All,
There have been comments that my CV is too long and not 'smart'enough. I need format & other assistance to have a qualitative CV. I am in H& profession with 8 years of experience in Oil & gas/Servicing companies.
Thanks,
Sunny.

What is too long? In other words, how long is it currently?

CFT,
About seven pages. There were suggestions that it should be 2 or 3 pages.
Thanks.
Sunny.

Hello Sunny,
Can I recommend a series of books called 'brilliant....'. 'Brilliant CV' (ISBN 0-273-70211-4) has a wealth of guidance and examples, including what not to do. 'Brilliant job hunter's manual' (ISBN 0-273-66315-1)advises re applications, assessments and testing, interviews, etc. If you look around they are often sold as a discounted pack. Well worth the investment.
Good luck, Stephanie

Hi Sunny
Good tip from Steph above. I honestly do feel that you could condense it down some, 7 pages is simply too much and as an ideal two would suit most applications. cheery pick out what is 'non-essential' and then rearrange it to be two pages, 3 if you really feel you need to.
I have sifted many CV's over the years and whilst I would not dismiss one for being 7 pages I think a bit more laterally about the individual and start asking 'why the need' at this stage?
A CV is an investment and if you want to there are many companies that will produce a damn good quality CV bespoke to you and get the balance of information just right, just another thought.

Hi i had a similar dilemma when i decided to move on from my last position so condensed my CV so it contained only my relevant experience and didn't even mention my school quals or any jobs that i wasn't dealing directly with SHE issues didn't see the need to use 20year old hype that could be skipped over by HR. A good tip i found was offer your recent position's full job description and also prepare a brief synopsis of what you have changed or achieved since joining the company to improve their SHE commitment, worked well for me and changed jobs within a few months of reformatting.best of luck.
