Posted By Brenda H Not sure whether this is the right forum, but i'll make a start and I am sure it will get moved if not. Does anyone have any experience or example's of business case's they have put together requiring additional H&S resources? I am coming up to being a year into a job and feel I need additional resources to help me and haven't put such a case together before and would be greatful if anyone has example's of similar cases they would be willing to e-mail me? Thanks

Posted By David Bannister Brenda, any business case must major on the financial reasons and if there are additional legal reasons then the financial penalties for failure should be included. In your case for additional resources it may be useful to put a realistic figure on what you are achieving now, what is missing, how much that is currently or potentially costing, why the missing bit is needed and how much the business will benefit from its inclusion. Be prepared to be challenged on any of the figures. Use the full costs of incidents in your argument so long as they are justifiable. The carrot of better business performance will be a better sales aid than the stick of potential losses, although you will know whether the decision makers are likely to be swayed by the threat of the latter or legal penalties.
