Posted By Zander Spike Hello, I am looking into moving to Amsterdam and wondered how difficult it is to get into this industry and how to begin. I am an English speaking Canuck though, so not sure if this counts against me i.e. not speaking Dutch. I wondered if anyone could point me to their H&S govt website, i have looked but don't get any useful returns when i search so not sure how i should be searching! Also any useful job sites would be great too, or any advice to be honest. I am Nebosh cert, 3 years office based H&S in banks and firms. Many thanks.

Posted By CFT Zander Even all the people in our parent Dutch company all speak English even when they are in Holland; you shouldn't have any great problems with the language. CFT

Posted By andre.tap@wagenborg.com Zander, It should not be a problem to get a job in Holland in HSE. Keep in mind that Dutch people speak very good English, but if you desire a carrer in the Netherlands you should integrate in the Dutch language. As you want to be a HSE professional you will meet Dutch people and you need to be aware of the specific Dutch HSE legislation, which can differ from the UK. Also keep in mind that your Nebosh certificate might not meet the Dutch standards on HSE competence. In the Netherlands we have a different structure in training Safety professionals and their competence. In your case the Nebosh certificate is equal to the Dutch MVK diploma, but is not as such recognised by the Dutch Government. Good luck with the job hunting. Andre
