hi
Just about to start my nebosh general course in feb.Really want to get into h+s.In my previous job i had h+s responsibilities i completed a course a 2 day course for h+s for site supervisors.I was a working foreman in the metal-decking trade.But have read some threads on here and they have been to say off putting to say the lease.Just want to pick some of your professional brains for advice and were to start.

You need to be aware that there are many people trying to break into h&s and some have very good qualifications. In my opinion the best way into the industry is through your own skills and knowledge of your particular industry. For example, I am an ex train driver and therefore combined my knowledge of railways with health and safety to make a career path.
Like most things in life it is achievable if you really want it, but you will probably have to start at the bottom and accept a low wage. For a new starter good qualifications are a must. After all, you can't get a degree in experience - good luck.

Yes, in my opinion, you are doing the right thing. The NEBOSH general certificate is a great place to start. Then when you successfully pass the course you will have further options available
Other than keeping tabs on this website, i'd also advise joining IOSH and go to some of the regular meetings, where you can network and speak to other like minded people
Most of all, enjoy it and always come on here and ask for help/ guidance whenever you need
