Here's a question,

Every one out here in the big bad world is all looking to go forward with their careers in HS&E, do you think a franchise scheme would work if you could only be give tasks that you where qualified to do?

I am not quite sure of the legal ramifications.

Motor vehicle dealerships are often franchised. Certain food chains are, e.g. in the fish and chip sector etc. The list is possibly endless, who knows? The key ingredient in all is "competence". A motor manufacturer for instance, would not let out a franchise to an Arthur Daley type. The same will apply to whatever type of franchise including H&S.

For several weeks now there have been details of H&S franchises in different parts of the UK on another web-page. Oops, sorry should I not have mentioned this? I don't really want to upset the "Aug police" so close to Xmas.

Technically it already exists with two such 'header' companies recently advertising such a franchising scheme in SHP.

In short unless the franchiser has a unique product, service or brand which has some sort of protection, then the franchise business is not sustainable.

As Health and Safety has long been established , arguably if it this were a sustainable franchise model someone would have done this many years ago.

In short how many solicitors, accountants, architects or quantity surveyors do you see working within franchised business?
