Posted By Roland I am employed as an Assistant health and safety officer and have be working in this post for the past 26 months. I have studied and passed the T835 Safety Health and Environmental management course at the OU. I have also studied and passed the NEBOSH Certificate in Health and safety, my question is, can anyone advise on the next best route in my career development please, as i have recently spoken to my employer about funding the Nebosh Diploma through the CBT route and they have agreed but i need to know if this course is the next step to my development as a health and safety practitioner or some other course ? thanks

Posted By al wood before embarking upon your next study route may i suggest you take i look at the similar threads which have been posted. i think there was one as recent as last week or the week before. your next study route in my opinion should be derived from what your weaknesses and needs are and your learning style. myself personally i opted for the NVQ 4 route as i was self funding (and it worked out cheaper than doing the then 2 part diploma) and it suited my needs best at that particular time. if undertaken correctly without plagiarism the NVQ 4 route can be a massive learning curve as it was for me and 4 of my former colleagues (all now CMIOSH and in good jobs). it took me some 12 months to complete.

Posted By Gus Roland I believe that the OU Post Grad Diploma in Environmental Decision Making, if it includes T835, can satisfy the academic requirement for Graduate membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) also other Universities will probably give you credit for T835 so NEBOSH is not the only academic route (though widely recognised) Also as Al says NVQ 4 is another option - though you might need to talk to IOSH as I am not sure if they would waive the open assessment requirement in your case See another thread for more information: http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...iew&forum=3&thread=41607 My advice would be to talk to the IOSH membership dept...asap.... you will find them very helpful Good luck
