Assistance in writing a business case/justification for National Diploma

Posted By fredfred Good Morning all. I currently hold the Nebosh certificate (achieved 2004)and would like to progress to take the National Diploma. My company have obviously asked for a justification for the training and the outlay. I wondered if anyone could help me with making my justification as bullet proof as I can.
I work for a food manufacturing company looking after all aspects of 3 factories. The operational managers have all recently sat the Nebosh certificate and I now have really good support at operational level which clears me to spend time on more strategic and long term improvements. I feel I need this knowledge to be able to effectively move the company forward. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Posted By Allan Curran Are you the main Health and Safety officer/manager or whatever or what? If H&S is not your official full time role then it could be argued that having the NGC is sufficient if you are supporting the full time HSE Officer.
If however you are the full time HSE officer/whatever then it is generally considered possessing the Diploma makes you 'competant' and therefore offers your company a degree of protection should the stuff hit the fan.

I think the process of continual improvement could be articulated for health and safety training as well as performance. Also, if your operational managers are the same level as you in terms of qualifications, then there is a good argument that you should have the better knowledge in order to delegate, arbitrate and communicate effectively.

Posted By www.hsepeople.comwww.hsepeople.com is the first website of its kind. A Social Networking site aimed specifically at Health and Safety People in all industries world wide. In Health and Safety the sharing of Information, Lessons Learned and best practise is very important. Only 2 months old but with almost 1000 members and more joining every day, [reference removed] is a not for profit community site that aims to be a one stop shop for anyone working in HSE. On [reference removed] you can create a profile freely advertising your services and availability, Chat instantly with other members through the sites instant messenger or through the discussion forums. With hundreds of HSE jobs being listed from around the world on the RSS Feeds or from the many big agencies posting on the forums [reference removed] has more HSE Jobs than any other site on the Net. Create a blog and let other keep up to date with what you are doing. If it is of interest to the community post it to the site magazine. [reference removed] also gives members the ability to create and manage their own group specific to whatever topic they choose and many agencies are taking advantage of this feature to create jobs groups. If you are a HSE Trainer create an event and advertise course places. People can join your event and leave comments or ask questions. They can also view who else is attending your event and communicate with them. The business directory page is now live and we will constantly be adding to it.
