Hi all!

Firstly thank you for taking interest in may subject!

Basically, looking for some advice on where to go and what to do……(Ideally would love to get some experience middle east, Canada etc)

Qualified to NEBOSH level 3 with a credit mark and fingers crossed will have my IOSH TechSP membership this coming June as I have worked in the health and safety / training industry for 5 years. I am also registered to RTITB as an instructor on the following:
Lorry loader crane (HIAB)
Forklift
Cherry Picker
Reach Truck
Telehandler.

I am currently working for a logistics company who employee over 400 staff but would like to gain my experience in other fields of safety overseas, entertainment, construction. I am young, free and willing to give nothing less than 100% in any job I am put in.

I am considering funding the NEBOSH diploma myself as this may secure me the better positions?

Any advice on best steps to take would be appreciated?

Thanks all!

not very helpfull but i'd say in the current climate, stick with the company you are at and keep building experience..

unless of course you have no real financial obligations then take the plunge and just apply for advisor roles that take your fancy.

also check expat forums (google) in each country you want to work...

Hi Jon,

I transferred from a similar background over 7 years ago now, I worked for Nissan and transferred into the leisure and entertainment sector, then construction (CDMC). I am now back in leisure working in Dubai. Transferring from manufacturing into leisure was not really that difficult as the process of H&S the same in every sector. I paid for all of my own courses and attended night class for 3 years, I think this increases your credibility with future employees as it show you are willing to get of your back side and do something to progress your career.

You will find that having worked in a variety of industries gives you a broader knowledge of specific H&S topics. Times are hard now to take a chance and move positions, but I believe that there is no harm done applying for positions and seeing what comes of it.

With regards to Dubai, there is also a recession going on over here to and organisations are cutting back on new employees. However, I would recommend placing your CV with a Middle East recruitment company and taking it from there.

Hope it all works out for you and good luck.
