Hello all.
I am looking for work in the Stockport / Manchester area as a H&S Assistant, either fulltime or part time, in order to continue my development.
Current arrangements with my employer are due to end June 1st. I have worked within the aviation industry as a H&S Assistant for a year, following redeploment from a supervisory position within baggage handling.
I hold the NEBOSH Gen Cert and am working towards the NEBOSH Nat Diploma, having passed Unit A in Jan, and have Unit D ready for submission this year. Unit B exams are July and Unit C exams Jan 2010.
I am 41, with significant work experience as a stock controller / supervisor within the telecoms service sector issuing materials to a primarily mobile workforce. H&S aspects there centred around the control of safety equipment, road signage, vehicle & plant conditions and on site safety inspections.
I decided upon a career change into 'full time' H&S last year, investing in the NEBOSH Diploma programme combined with a 1 year agreement of practical work experience in the H&S Department at Manchester Airport.
If you think you might have a suitable position where I can assist a current H&S Manager and develop my skills, please email me at:
tony.lawton3@ntlworld.com
Regards
Tony

Hi Tony,
First and foremost I would suggest that you repost with a less place specifc header and then provide an indicator as to how far from the Manchester area you wuuld consider, and why you would not consider e.g. Sheffield [this requires good text, not "don't wan't to commute for more than an hour"!!!]
Good luck, Peter in Glasgow

Thanks Peter
I have my own transport, and am able to commute a reasonable distance to work, therefore anywhere within an hour's drive of Manchester would be fine, although I am open to slightly further afield for the right position.
Cheers
Tony

Just looked it up on Wikipedia. It's pronounced blev-ee and is an acronym for boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion. This is type of explosion that can occur when a vessel containing a ressurised liquid is rupture. A Bleve results from a rupture of a cessel containing a liquid substantially abobe its atmospheric boiling point. If the vessel is ruptured the vapour portion may rapidly leak lowering the pressure inside the container, this sudden drop in pressure inside the container causes a violent boiling of the liquid which rapidly liberates large amoints of vapour in the process. This can cause a significant explosion which may completely destroy the container and project fragments around the area. Bleves can also be caused by external fires near a storage vessel causing heating and build up of pressure resulting in explosion. Why not try Winipedia.
