I have like many here trying to get a foot on the H&S ladder at an entry level. However I am now resigning myself to the idea of giving up the search and look to do something else instead.

Having only a NEBOSH General Certificate, being on the wrong end of fifty, and no experience the chances of finding a position are ver slim.

I have been advised to try shadowing, or gain more qualifications. Shadowing or voluntary work is not a possibility as I work during the week and no-one in H&S near me works weekends. Gaining qualifications is impractical financially and due to my shift patterns.

Good luck to those in the same position and still looking. Hope your determination pays off.

Mike

PS: I'll still look in on the forum though as I find it informative.

As has been suggested to me in the past, try roles where H&S is an element of the role rather than the role itself until more experience and quals can be gained.

Facilities management and works supervisor / operations manager type roles often look for cert qualified applicants, maybe that's the way to go.

Whatever you decide good luck with your search.
