Posted By Paul Moran Evening All,
Would it be possible for somebody to give me a ball park figure for the above courses. I am based in the North East and I am hoping to study on an evening. E Learning will be considered only as a last resort. I had an email with a price last night and I had to phone a friend to come and pick my Jaw up!
Also with a back ground in construction and recently finishing at uni with Building Surveying I am interested in the CDM side does anybody have any advice on other courses that would help? Freely admit I have minimal H&S exp. But I do manage contractors on-site etc in my current role and have the general cert.
I am hoping to finish the construction Cert by the end of this year/early next depending on work commitments and exam time tables.
Cheers

Please do more than simply buy on price - have a good look at quality and your learning preferences too. There are lots of providers - some much better at taking you towards "competence" than others. Your long-term aim should be to achieve Chartered status, and both NVQ4 and NEBOSH Diploma (as well as an IOSH-approved degree) are each possible routes.
You should expect to pay about 2000 pounds for an NVQ4, expect to pay about 2000 pounds for an NVQ4, and probably 4000-5000 for a NEBOSH Diploma.
Decide whether you like flexibility in learning, home/distance study or whether you want formal lectures and exams.
If you favour the former, you might choose NVQ4. If you you favour the former, choose NVQ4. If you favour the latter, you might choose NEBOSH.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Posted By al wood if you are looking to get into the CDM-C side of things you are probably better looking at the NEBOSH construction certificate.

Posted By Carl West Hi Paul
If you're in the North East take a look at North Notts College at Worksop
Full time and part time NEBOSH Diploma at £1880-00
NVQ4's can be around £2000-00 but remember you need to manage your time correctly and some providers may charge you more if you pass a certain time limit for the course
This discussion has been covered many times previously so just type a search into the box and weigh up the pros and cons...
Good Luck
Carl

Posted By Brian Horrocks Try Open University, course T835 Integrated Safety Management.
OU provide pretty good material and support/IT/DVDs etc
About £1000, IOSH recognise it for upgrading of membership - or they did do when I did it.
More to quals than NEBOSH Diploma
