Having been made redundant today I am seeking opportunities in the South West betwixt Bristol and Exeter.

Industry for last decade has been commercial property management 5000 acres plus and development. All areas of facilities management, technical, employment, health & safety, environmental, sustainability, project manage CDM developments, training, contractor assessment, procure services, and whatever else was required on large business park type outlets.

Many hats so will consider anything - either training, course delivery, management, consultancy based, employed.

Budget management to twenty-five million per annum average, some years much higher.

Company leaving UK soil and I do not wish to relocate to overseas.

Times are tough indeed right now.

Personally speaking, I don't see many green shoots in the economy right now. Things may improve over the next 6 months or so but there will be cuts right up to end of the year in almost all sectors of the economy.

Could you focus on Principal Contractors / Contractors who are involved in the South West Part of England and specialise in social housing / facilities management to see if they are looking for health and safety personnel.

Any work that is commercially related right now ( Construction Industry ) seems to be very fragile in terms of sustainability of employment.

Good Luck whatever you do.

Thank you John. I also professionally detail cars as a hobby, have worked on quite a few exotics (machine compounding/polishing etc) I can potter along indefinitely doing this from home or mobile, but as some I visit are 3/4 days jobs from start to finish travelling is a pain and can only do the longer sessions when on hols (much to significant other's disgust)

It is quite amusing when working on a swirled brand new vehicle for certain German manufacturers when I am questioned on health and safety. I always carry my CMIOSH details which rose some brows the other day when I was being assessed by a company H&S officer who had just passed his cert, trouble is now he knows, I'm trying to get on - and he keeps asking questions.

No I shall be flexible but stick to my competency areas, which are many over and above H&S ... comes with age and doing similar job for years I guess.

Fingers firmly crossed.

The good news for job seekers is the power of these forums.

I have been contacted directly to discuss an opportunity that is coming up, so it is certainly worth its weight in gold. No guarantees of course but it is a start.
