Hi
I had applied last month for the post of Senior HSE Advisor in Saudi arabia through a UK Company, I was not selected for following reason I am pasting the part of the mail.
Dear Mr Godwin,

Thank you for your email , I have had feedback from the client today and have been informed by them that your CV would not be suitable for this role, as they felt you didn’t have enough Business Development experience required for this role.

This is first time in 16 years I have heard this , nevertheless I wish to find out from the forum here, would some one enlighten me.

Godwin

I have just spent two years in Saudi Arabia and went through the same experience. I was already working for the UK company who had the contract as we did the FEED work. When the time come to man up the job our company had to send the client every CV for appraisal. The Saudis are very rigorous in their selection but when they you there you will find that a Saudi, Any Saudi can walk on to the job and get a start anytime. One rule for them and another for us infidels..

Good luck and keep trying.

Godwin.

It might be that the role is within a Health and Safety Consultancy with a need for sales to the actual client, and ongoing client management.

regards, Peter
