Having recently attained a Nebosh G C I would like to further my qualifications by starting a NVQ4.I can obtain funding for this, but problem is i need to be in paid employment.
I am currently working 3 days a week unpaid for a medium/large size construction group on Merseyside (Beats Jeremy Kyle) with the promise of the next H&S position that becomes available in the northwest.
Ideally I would like to do the Nebosh Diploma but self funding is not an option at the present time.
Any suggestions folks?

work for free and undertake your NVQ that way -
If you are working 3 days and undertaking H&S duties therein do the NVQ there
That is the great value of the NVQ system you can pick up and drop easily as against other types of learning that are geared to young full time workers/students where nothing is available for none working people especially those over a certain age

The terms of the NVQ funding state that it must be paid work.

This is one of the pitfalls whenever you want to do an NVQ Level 4 or the IOSH IPD Process in these uncertain times.
As you have found out, you need to be in work long enough inorder to fully complete the quals and get CMIOSH status. This can take between two to three years.
You could literally be in a job for 3 months, then told you have to leave, due to financial difficulties by the employer and so struggle to complete anything and if you applying for jobs you will not have the minimum quals get to interview stage.
This happened to a colleague of mine recently with the NEBOSH Dip, consequently struggling to complete Unit D and progress to CMIOSH status.

Sorry but do not know all the parameters hence the idea - get you 'free' work paid at 05p per hour and that should cover that hurdle! - Pay whoever the 05p yourself - it can be put in petty cash and then claim it back from them!
However the word employed may come in so work as an 'employed' consultant - you can juggle paper work
I thought that the NVQ system was better than other systems for helping people to get on in life but perhaps I am wrong and if you need further support ask

Just checking I have got this right. You have to be "employed" to get funding, but you can do your NVQ in a voluntary work placement (ok with awarding body). Yes? Is the boss that is saying no, the workplacement boss? Or someone on the funding application?

You must be in paid employment to meet the criteria of the funding.
I assume they mean paying tax and N.I.

Fundng for NVQ 4 , can someone point me in the direction of this, website, tel number etc.
