Does anyone have a 'snappy' definition for SMS, preferably one utilised by HSE. Good old HSG(65) almost gives one but I am sure the good people on this forum can complete the job!

A system of management that makes things safe!
Crazy or what...
Shouldn't this be posted on the study support forum?

Draft ILO Technical Guidelines on OS&H Management Systems describes OSH Management System as:
Set of interrelated or interactive elements to establish OHS policy and objectives and to achieve those objectives
18002:2000 describes OH&S management system as:
Part of the overall management system that facilitates the management of the OH&S risks associated with the business of the organization. This includes the organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing and maintaining the organization’s OH&S policy
I hope this helps
