We are a small service company who will be opening a new office in the Leeds area in the New Year. To get this new office "up and running" a number of our engineers will be spending a lot of time in the Leeds area. To reduce hotel bills the company have rented a house which the engineers will use for overnights.
Like many things, as a Christmas present, I was given the task to look into the Health and Safety implications of the company running this house as a "hotel?". It was my understanding that private houses do not come under normal H&S legislation.
I have searched all the normal places and have found little of any real help. Even the HSE were a liitle vague and suggested talking to our insurance company.
Does anyone have any experience, advice or pit-falls for this type of situation?
Kind Regards
Merry Xmas and New Year

I think you should do better if you speak to the local authority environmental health department - but not today!
With Seasonal greetings.

Nicki,
Id agree with Ken, It would seem what your suggesting is your average small hotel / guest house and therefore would come under LA enforcement and not the HSE. Usual things that come to mind are all Gas Apliances, Fire Legislation and that old favourite "Any Asbestos" in the house?
