Does anyone have any information on how the safety of doctor's on home visits is ensured? I understand that some areas have a "buddy" system where they have a driver, but I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had experience of putting a system in place, especially where the area visited, or indeed the patient themselves may be high risk (from a violence/agression point of view)
Many thanks
Sarah

I suggest you have a look at the NHS zero tolerance web site www.nhs.uk/zerotolerance. There are downloadable guidance documents including "Primary Care - preventing violence & abuse against general practioners & their staff" and "Managing violence in the community".

You could also look at www.suzylamplugh.org, the website of the National Charity for Personal Safety.
