Dear all,
Some departments in my organisation need to sometimes transport items classified as "dangerous goods" by air. I understand that people who consign such goods need to be trained, according to the ICAO Technical Instructions which have been implemented in UK air regulations. (I had a good look for info on the IATA regs/ICAO instructions to be sure this was right.)
Does anyone have information on a reasonably-priced training course on this that they can recommend? I have found one for £330 plus VAT that is CAA and IATA approved, but would like a recommendation from someone if possible.
I'm sure that the people sending this stuff are doing the right thing as regards packaging, labelling, documentation etc. - for a start FedEx won't accept it if anything's wrong - it's just that none of them have had the formal training & certification.
Many thanks in advance for any help
Diane

I'm not an expert, but believe you have your facts correct. The issue is common for N Sea helicopter operations and so the logistics people (onshore and offshore) handling materials and flight paperwork need this type of training.
Training providers in Aberdeen such as RGIT/MSTI run the course regularly. I'm sure there must be similar providers for fixed wing operations, but have no experience in that area.
