I am planning to change several double doors to single doors what width do they have to be to meet regs my local fire and rescue dept suggest 750mm interal and 800mm external clear is the requirement I have also been told by another party that it is more what are the requirements? anyone Help please

My colleague suggests that the DDA will advise on a door width of 800mm internal & 850mm external by 2004. Current standards by Building control are as you suggest. However there must also be a 300mm clear space between the door edge & the adjacent wall to allow for operation of the door.

As Ron begins to say, there are more considerations for wheel-chair access than minimum door width. See Approved Document M to the Building Regulations and then add some.
