I am trying to improve some manual handling operations for an installation team. Can anyone help with a few queries please:
1. Part of the job requires using a heavy torque adjuster for long periods of time. I was considering a spring suspension balancer to take some of the weight of the pistol grip tool. However, this would need to be portable, has anyone solved this before?
2. Another aspect of the job involves work at height for which they use a scissor lift. However, the task involves excessive reach from the working platform I need to try and reduce the reach but I am restricted with the width of the aisle at floor level. A boom lift would give the useful degree of rotation but a scissor lift is seen as safer with the restriction of the surrounding installation. All the roll out extensions I have seen are extended front to back rather than from side to side, again any ideas?
3. Finally, does anyone have any contacts for consultants in the North West who specialise in ergonomic solutions, as I might invest in a second opinion.
Thanks in advance.

Angela, I'd be more that happy to offer a 'second opinion', but am based in the south (though I don't mind braving your weather); for a reasonable list of (registered) ergonomics consultants try: http://www.ergonomics.or...k/consultancies/list.htm
There are a number in your area; best of luck.
