Posted By Zoe Haywood Does anyone know of any requirements for cafes to supply toilet facilities to members of the public during opening hours? If there is a requirement, is this related to the number of people seated?

Posted By Nigel Burrows Zoe - apart from the references in the 'Workplace Regs.' ACOP there is a specific power that Local Authorities 'MAY' use(i.e. not a duty but a power they can opt to use in appropriate circumstances). This allows them to specify by notice served on owner or occupier of a relevant place(this is typically a cafe where patrons eat on the premises) detailed type and number of facilities required. This may be in addition to facilities required for food handlimg staff under Food Hygiene regulations. This power is contained in Section 20 of the Local Government(Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 Hope this helps Regards Nigel Burrows
