Would an incident where a Hospital worker is mugged by a member of public whilst on duty and walking about a Hospital, and subsequently off work for more than 3 days be RIDDOR reportable? Any views?

The RIDDOR Regs require that you must report an over three day injury if there is an accident connected with work (including an act of physical violence) and the employee is working on your premises.
Hope this helps

Colan,
My personal view would depend on whether the injury is connected with work.
Should this person be:
employed and injured in or near A&E
employed as a security, night watch etc
Then it is obviously connected with work. If they were cleaners etc, I would tend to say no.
Difficulty is that hospital's are becoming an increasingly violent environment.
HSE will always advise. If in doubt after this then play safe and report.
Regards
Andrew
