Posted By David Fellows Guidlines for the Assessment of General Damages in Personal Injury Cases (2nd edition) Does not give much useful guidance. The principles are the same as those applied to cases of facial disfiguremnt. Burns will are normally regarded as more seriouse as they tend to cause a greater degree of pain and lead to greater disfigurement. One area in which an almost 'conventional' figure has emerged is where an exploratory laparotomy has been performed but no significant internal injury has been found the award for the operation and inevitable scar is of the order of £3,500.
