Posted By George Wedgwood Often, amendments may be issued when minor changes to legislation are needed, such as a Regulation change to deal with a Member State 'non compliance' with an EC Directive (perhaps missed or misunderstood re the Fire Precautions Regs in relation to the Workplace Directive) and a reissue could be when a technical set of Regulations such as you mention, has a lot of small technical standards changes in the Schedules or Annexes to revise. It is ofter easier and brings more clarity, to reissue (you will see this from the printing date) but none of the actual Regulations change. Look at some of the current regs like the electricity at Work and you will see that several issues have been made quietly but no Regs have changed. These issues dealt with references in the Guidance to the Regs (which many think ARE the 'Regs' which had changed due to them becoming extinct etc. Hope this helps, George

Posted By Geoff Burt Interesting one. We've recently been picked up by a H&S Officer for a large company for using the title 'The Construction (D&M)Regs 1994' on our H&S Plans - we're told we should be saying .... 2000. We now put ...1994 (plus amendment)which has been reluctantly accepted. Where do they get the time from!! Geoff

Posted By Adrian Watson To be a pedant the correct title is the CONSTRUCTION (DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT) REGULATIONS 1994 SI 1994/3140, as amended by SIs 1996/1592,1999/3242 and 2000/2380. These regulations are cited as the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994. (Reg 1) To quote the Regulations as the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2000 is quite simply incorrect. The first response to the question asked gave a good resume as to the main reason for revoking regulations and issuing new regulations. Regards Adrian Watson.
