Can anyone point me towards some guidance on health and safety in forges (the sort with big hammers, not horses)? I cannot find any HSE publications on the subject.
many thanks
Pat

Pat,
Contact the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM) in West Bromwich. I used to work in the forging sector and sat on their H&S Forum for 2 years. They have some useful guidance of which some has been produced by the forum itself.
Sorry, I do not have the telephone number anymore.
Regards,
Paul

The last HSE publication I have seen for this industry is dated 1993 and was published by HSE's Engineering National Interest Group in Birmingham. Suggest you contact them.
Good luck, Peter

The Engineering NIG worked with the CBM to produce guidance.
