I know this is silly, but I cannot for the life of me find the reference to obvious exits and final exits not requiring signage!
Help!

You can find a reference in 'Fire Safety - an employers guide' page 54 and 55.
It says 'Emergency escape routes and exit doors that are not in common use should be clearly indicated as appropriate by suitable signs. However in certain circumstances such as places of public assembly you should indicate all exit doors.'
