Do roller shutter doors require stautory testing?

Do roller shutter doors come under LOLER or PUWER.

As there is a lifting process shoudl they be tested every 12 months?

If you shed some light i would be greatful

In general terms lifting equipment is that which is designed for raising and lowering loads which are not themslves part of the equipment. Thus LOLER does not apply. PUWER will apply and the requirements for maintenance will of necessity be much the same as LOLER but the manufacturers recommendations are obviously a significant factor.

Kate,

Regulation 18 (Doors and Gates) of the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992 also covers powered doors.

As Bob says, manufacturers recommendations are very important with regard to maintenance frequencies.

Nick
