What (if any) legislation / guidance do I need to adher to/be aware of if I want to arrange a bonfire for the local school.
Is it a legal requirement to have an ambulance on site ??? that is what I have been told any assistance would be helpful.
(I am aware of the pending firefighters strike)
thanks

There is HSE guidance on fireworks (both for professional and amateur pyrotechnicians) but I can't remember the details. I am sure that searching the HSE site will turn something up for you.

If it's part of a firework display you will need HSG123 from the HSE. If it's a public event you should also consult the Events Safety Guide (I cannot remember the number of this and I'm not in the office until Tuesday). You will need first-aid cover based upon the guidance contained in this publication (as well as a safety plan, emergency plan, risk assessments, fire-fighting provision, stewards, etc). I doubt whether the presence of an ambulance would be required if you can have qualified first-aiders present and the location is not remote from the emergency services.

PS. The Events Safety Guide is HSG195 (often referred to as 'The Blue Book').
