Has anyone ever been requested to provide chair lifts in communal staircases in housing association type properties?
I have been asked to do a Risk Assessment on a proposal to do just that in one of our blocks of flats and feel distinctly uneasy about the prospect of installing a chair lift on a communal staircase. My preferred option would be to install a lift - since I have a vision of an elderly person sitting in a chair lift, carrying shopping bag and walking stick whilst another, more able bodied person, is using the staircase and maybe carrying their week's shopping supply up the stairs. There is also the possibility of misuse, vandalism etc.
Any views/shared experiences would be most welcome.

Dear Annetta,
I would have thought that the chairlift manufacturer/installer would be able to give you a start on this one.
Even if he cannot give a full R/A
