Posted By Sharon Morgan We are currently in the process of building additional offices with the view to use the mezzanine first floor as a storage platform. This area will be accessed by staff members from the existing part of the building, we are punching a whole through the existing wall. What I cannot get a straight answer on, from the construction company or the architect is whether we need stairs at the other end of the mezzanine for an emergency escape route. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Posted By Martyn Hendrie Building Regs Approved Document B, Fire Safety 2000 edition may provide the information needed. Your local library should have a copy if not a call to the local authority planning dept. may provide the answer Regards Martyn

Posted By Bill Elliott Do you have a Fire Certificate for this building - any planned changess should be notified to the Fire Autority BEFORE any change takes place to pick up on exactly the sort of problem you outline. Building Regs 2000 Doc B refers to al the necessary criteria.
