Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a chemical, or substance that stops synthetic pitches from freezing and is safe to use. One recommendation has been to use a pure dried salt, but it would appear if this got into a cut it would be an irritant.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Joe

We use a sand and rock salt combination on the pich at my club. Although the salt can cause irritation, it reduces the risk of a more serious accident. We looked at several options but the cost was so prohibited that the sand/salt mix was the best value (and in fact the best working). Dependant on the type of pitch, is it already sanded to protect it from wear??
