Posted By Mark Eden could anybody tell me if electric pallet trucks are covered by lifting equipment regs ? i.e. do operators have to be trained before operating them. should they be treated like a flt and have their key removed to prevent unauthorised personnel from using the equipment ?

Posted By Robert K Lewis Simple answer is yes they are lifting equipment and LOLER applies. Training is a requirement for the use of all work euipment as is ensuring they are used by competent persons only Bob

Posted By Gavin Gibson Not only do they come under LOLER, but also PUWER and Management regs. your query of key control is defined by a need to prevent untrainied staff from operating such equipment. This does not require key control, but it is the simplest method. Try a risk assessment.
