Posted By Andy Beveridge Dear All, I would be grateful for any pointers regarding the useful life of safety footwear. I ask because the new footwear we are currently supplying has a 12 month guarantee. My question is. . when the guarantee runs out, does this mean the footwear no longer meets the criteria and should therefore be replaced? Any thoughts, guidance or help will be gratefully received. Best regards Andy PS I don't work for a safety footwear wholesaler!!

Posted By Jim Walker Andy, The 12 month criteria is what I use. On the whole it is cheaper than implimenting PPE inspection procedures.

Posted By Ken Taylor The '12 month replacement' principle is generally good for fairly frequent use in 'construction type' conditions whilst for those with only occasional use I would tend to go for the 'replacement upon proof of worn out' method. However, we should take into account the need for more than one pair for continuous daily users for reasons of good hygiene.
