Posted By Robert Paterson Hi John The HSE website (www.hse.gov.uk) will give you leaflets to download giving you an idea of what the legislation is on consultation with employees. There are two pieces of legislation applying to this subject, The Consultation with Employees Regulation 1996 that apply to non unionised workforces and the Safety Representatives and Safety Committee Regulations 1977 which apply to unionised workers.You can also contact the stationary office for more information. Posted By Michael Dunn It depends what it is you mean by 'Consultative Committees'. Have you been formally requested by two of your H&S Representatives to establish one under the Safety Representatives and Safety Committee Regs 1977 (as amended)? If this is the case then the guidance notes under regulation 9 will give you as reasonable set of ideas as any. Even if you have not been asked to establish this kind of committee they are still good guidelines. The important thing is that what ever you are establishing ... that it works as a two way forum that can promote better, safer working. I am a Trade Union Branch Health & Safety Officer for a large employer. I would be more than happy to give you frank & 'independent' view of anything you are proposing to set up - either as part of the forum or if you e-mail me directly. Michael
