Posted By David Hurst I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm currently doing some work on Legionnaire's disease and have just seen some info on Safetynews site which indicates that the Regs will apply to those responsible for smaller residential accommodation. Does this include Council Houses and sheltered accommodation? Any advice would be welcomed. Cheers.

Posted By Jeff Manion The system may be part of the communal services so therefore, this area of equipment etc is part of the "common areas" of the location - therefore the HASAWA applies. However, there is a grey area about where the services deliver, can you can access are there dead legs, are the services being under used and therefore creating dead legs. The "Landlord" still have duties and these need to be established. If hot and cold water where is the sentinel taps? Posted By Jay Joshi David, The HSE has recently published a free leaflet, "Legionnaires' disease. Essential information for providers of residential accommodation". You can access the leaflet from the HSE website:- http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg376.pdf
