Posted By Charles New Can anyone point me in the right direction or provide me information regarding the presence of anthrax in horse hair plaster, and the potential risks. A sample has been sent for testing, however I would like to find some information pending the return of the results Thanks in advance.

Posted By Tyler On the United kingdom Occupational Hygeine discussion forum they tackled this issue a while ago. Samples were sent off to site and anthrax spores could not be grown form the samples. It is unlikely that yours will be any different. Log on to thye BOHS website and follow the links to the UKOH and do a search for more information on this. Posted By Shane Johnston Given the fact that Bacillus Anthracis Spores have been detected in samples of old horse hair plaster at a number of sites (St Panceas London for one), and lets not forget your common garden soil (from infected animals that were burried in years past (field near Barnstaple)), and given the fact that the number of Anthrax cases in this country is very very low, then I would suggest that the risk is not significant. Shane.

Posted By Tyler Since I have posted the response to the anthrax question I have tried to locate the thread on the UKOH discussion site and have had no joy yet. I fear I may have mixed up my reference and may have meant another forum. Apologies for this. Incidently, in 1998, Anthrax spores were discovered in a similar way in Kings Cross Station.
