Posted By A Olsen Can anyone point me in the direction of innovative styles of hard hats? I've tried our suppliers and short of vented ones, there doesn't seem to be anything new out there. We have an operator who breaks out in a rash whenever he wears one. Obviously he has to wear one or we have to prohibit him working in areas where they are needed. He's keen to try anything new before we have to start restricting his work. Help!

It is worth a grin though (especially the western style item) and may lead to a solution. If not try searching on-line - http://www.safetyshop.com/ or http://www.safetysupplies.co.uk/ who have ranges. Arco, RS etc are also generally well stocked and can be viewed on-line. Posted By Robert Whent Take a look at the earlier thread re American hard hats also, we have started trialing the TAG Hard Hat, see www.taghardhat.com They offer good sun protection and keep the rain out of your eyes & they are CE marked. Rob

Posted By TodPerk Is it the heat causing the rash or the material contacting your worker's forehead? If it's the heat, then a head band or bandana may be sufficient. If the worker is having an allergic reaction to the material, then you can try lining the headband with an adhesive "moleskin" material. That has worked for me in the past. Good luck. Tod Perkins

Posted By A Olsen Thanks to you all. I'll be following up these suggestions. Have already looked at the Western hats - don't know where we'd tether the horses! Think our man has a problem with both the material and heat so will try a combination of things. Thanks again. Alison
