Hi everyone
I am looking for some advice on working out the number of persons who can be allowed into a premise at any one time. The premise in question is a satellite unit of a day centre for people with learning disabilities (this may also include some people in wheelchairs).
I know that it is down to risk assessment, but I wanted to know what criteria people used as good practice e.g. number of fire exits, distance etc.

Take a look see in the Guidance to the Fire Frecautions Act 1971. page 56. you will find the matrix for occupancy floor space commonly accepted

I assume you are doing a Fire Risk Assessment?
I would recommend you begin by getting a building plan of the area - which will give you the room dimensions and indicate fire exits. I will email some guidance on this directly, but as suggest it is good to contact your local Fire Authority as they are really helpful for this sort of thing.
