I've been asked to look into the selection of armoured vests. The vests would be worn by both male and female staff for occasional use only. The vests are required to give protection against sharp objects (knife attacks etc.).
I'm unsure if covert vests would be better than the visible vests the police use.

Can anyone share their experience of selecting and using such equipment?

One of our managers bought some for their staff, who now refuse to wear them because they are too heavy and they were bought as one size/type fits all (we are in the process of sorting). I know these things appear obvious (seemingly they werent to said manager) but wether they go under or over clothing make sure they are comfortable and as light as possible.
