Posted By Dave Wynn Hi everyone, I am about to embark on compling our Asbestos register! A pretty tall order, I have a site plan with all rooms & locations marked. What I need is a checklist possibly in excel to assisst in the site survey. Has any one had any experience of this or better still have a form ready to go? Many thanks,
Dave.

Posted By Stuart Nagle In orde to undrtake an asbestos survey competently, you should be qualified to do so (P402 certificate and submission of suvry reports - post training required).
Once the survey is done, a report must be submitted based on the requirements of MDHS 100.
From this an asbestos managementment plan can be raised.
This is the simple (short) version. If you are not qualified as above, I would suggest that you get someone in who is, or get on the course yourself. there is a little more to it than simple starting a survey.

Posted By Kevin West I concur with Stuart.
As the other thread (Duty to manage) details, there is more to this than meets the eye.
How would you know where the asbestos is without sampling?
How do you sample it safely?
What measure have you in place should you become contaminated or an area becomes contaminated?
Where is the asbestos likely to be found? (history of building and experiance etc plays a large role in this.)
........and so on
I would urge you to use a competent contractor for this activity. A contractor with suitable experience, qualifications and insurance.
The company I work for fits this criteria and would be pleased to help.
Email me for more information.

Posted By Tony Birchall Sorry if this is a response to an old thread on here, but it appears to have nipped up in the pecking order. Spreadsheets are complex to follow. Why not stick photographs of your sample points (asbestos and non asbestos, the latter indicates your level of diligence at the time of survey), onto a CD. Much more colourful and interesting, and more site specific.
