Posted By John Wettler We have identified a need for a health and safety induction video to be shown to contractors (construction and maintenance) coming onto our site. The video would be tailor made for our site. Does anyone have experience of commissioning one of these 'corporate' videos? if so what are the pitfalls? are there film companies that specialise in this business? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Posted By George Wedgwood I have also been investigating such a medium for induction training and have spoken with a firm called "Airplay". They are at www.airplay.co.uk and seem to be a reasonable outfil, turning over around £5m per year. They do let you have sample CDs etc and their stuff seems to be of high quality. A corporate video of about 30 mins would come in at £12-20k depending on what you need and how many locations need filming - that's the expensive bit! Have a chat to Mick Porter on their sales team and let him know what you want. Let me know how you get on as I hope to be looking at some detail over the coming months before making a decision. Regards, George

Posted By Jim Brand Are you considering CD as a possibility. We have received a recent quote for this at between £3000 and £5000. May be a bit more flexible than traditional video.

Posted By Marilyn Martin Hi John How about developing your own as a powerpoint presentation with timed slides to incorporate short video clips? This can be done with the aid of digi camera or video. It is much more easily updated than a video and can be saved onto a CD. You can also create a series of short modules that are related to different needs in realtion to the information required e.g contractors/other visitors
Another thought if you are looking at doing this is to contact your local College/Uni. The media studies students and other groups are often looking for sponsorship to produce work. You can check the quality of their other projects before coming to any agreement.

Posted By Bob Pedley John, I have worked with a chap called Chris Lodge for this type of work he is excellent and has a sound understanding of the projection of safety information. Chris is a former chemical plant operator trainer. The cost for his corporate work is around £300 per minute watched i.e. Induction video 20 mins = £5000. This would include assisting with storyboard/script, 3D animated (in corporate house style) title graphics , copyright free music, narration, bullet points etc. I think this is about as cheap as this work comes. His contact details are: chris@movingimage.freeserve.co.uktel: 01244 313359 Mob: 07979 575 630 Bob
