Posted By Brian Jenkins Dear All Am I correct in thinking that "The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1993", apply only to Domestic & Residential areas. Is there any such duty on general workplaces for ensuring 'old' furniture is replaced to meet modern Fire Retardant standards? Any information is welcomed. Brian.

Posted By Ken Taylor Those Regulations deal with the sale of furniture and don't require people to replace existing. As far furniture in the workplace is concerned, you need to include this within your fire safety risk assessments and consider appropriate controls in the light of published guidance for the type of workplace. Above this, some workplaces require licences (eg public entertainment) which may specify with regard to the flammability of furniture.
