Our company have lately installed palm reading machines instead of card swiping. However some employees are raising a question on its hygiene, especially if someone has an injured finger or something, which could lead to infection. Has anybody encountered the same problem? Are there any recommendations? Or should I be not concerned at all?

Oh it's Biometrics, I thought you meant one of those games you occasionally see at the funfair!
To answer the question asked, there should be no greater problem than say general hygiene issues related with WC door handles or lift buttons, i.e. ensure the cleaner cleans them regularly and ensure that staff have good personal hygiene.
However I suspect there is an underlying problem here - probably to do with civil liberties, which management may need to address.

Can't be any less hygienic than a door handle, handrail, water tap or anywhere else employees hands regularly come into contact with.
