Can you help again please? I want to get our lifting equipment examined under the requirements of LOLER, but want to use our own fitters, keeping it in house and in my control. Whilst our fitters are trained for engines and power tools they have no specific training in inspection of lifting equipment...what are your thoughts on this and can any one suggest a course/training which would be recognised as proving competence in this task.
Thanks

Graham,

The CITB run a course - no. DML18 'Testing and Inspection (Plant)'. It lasts for three days and covers, among others, LOLER regs and Inspection of lifting equipment.

Successful attendees will gain NVQ Unit 053 (Testing and Inspection).

Check out the website - www.citb.co.uk for details.

Regards,

John.
