Posted By ian mcnally Dear all, I am looking to highlight the potential risks for a company that arranges social events to promote their business and invites members of the public as well as existing clients. Whilst I am aware of some of the controls needed to address fire, first aid, food hygiene, welfare, emergency procedures, it is not an area with which I have had much experience and suspect numerous licenses from authorities may also be required. I was dragged into to this after it was considered a PR company had dealt with everything! Following a conversation with this company I was staggered to discover the PR company, had assumed the client had taken care of the safety side of things! (Sounds a bit familiar) If anyone could point me in the right direction to source any guidance I would be most grateful. Also if anyone knows of any cases where companies have been prosecuted or sued after accidents for failing to comply, that would be fantastically helpful. Even if you can't me with this, I would like to wish all you safety professionals a cracking Christmas Ian

Posted By mike.mcdonnell I have had a go at doing a Risk Assessment for such an event, albeit at very short notice. It was a charity football events including side stalls + would you believe 'Bouncy Castles' The HSE also have published a guidance note from memory 'safety at public events'. Feel free to give me a bell to discuss further on 0161 827 5332
