Good morning one and all
We are starting a new maintenance contractor who employs some personnel but also has lots of sub contractors. He is going to act as our main contractor and "supply" us with these sub contractors when the need arises. My questions is whilst he has employers liability insurance would that cover the sub contractors, who in the main are 1 or 2 man bands? If not what type of insurance should we be asking for.

The main contractors EL insurance may not cover sub-contractors as they are not his employees. If they are “1 or 2 man bands” they also would not necessarily need EL insurance as they don’t employ anyone. What would be important for you and them is that they have Public Liability insurance.
