Posted By Steve Hickey Does anyone use a points system for doing his or her safety inspections on construction sites? I am considering using this type of system and would appreciate any help for the members of the forum. Also what do other members think of giving financial rewards “yearly” to site agents for the best-kept site. I would also be interested to hear of other ideas.
Thanks
Steve

Posted By Donna Fisken Steve,
I have used a points system for carrying out audits but not for inspections though I am guessing the same framework could apply for a more basic system. They worked really well but alot of it comes down to the person scoring the points - the framework is the most important bit as long as you make it clear what you expect to see for a certain number of 'points'.
As for financial rewarding I personally think this is a bad move - again, having dealt with this system previously it really does cause divides among staff generally because receiving the money aren't actually 'doing' anything it is those working for them who are carrying out the tasks. Good housekeeping should be part of everyones day-to-day duties - the question that will be asked is why be rewarded for somthing that is part of your daily job?
Best Rgeards - Donna
