Posted By Joanne Laing Hi, I'm trying to make our production area into a mandatory safety footwear zone - however, I am coming under pressure from management as this may prevent important visitors being shown the site. Does anyone know who supplies those slip/clip on toe toetectors that fit over shoes?? I know you can get them, and everyone I speak to has heard of them - but no one seems to know where you can purchase them from. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Kind Regards, Joanne

Posted By Karen Todd Hi Joanne, I also am looking to trial these and I have requested a sample from our PPE supplier, Anderco, although I think they have only recently seen them for themselves. I have also seen pictures of the yellow 'clapper style' toecaps (they are only a plastic toecap and have a bit of elastic that goes around the back of your foot to hold it on). I don't think these are approved to withstand 200J and they offer no protection to the rest of the foot. We had toyed with various ideas for visitors. Some 'special' visitors who get into the middle of everything have their own safety shoes which we keep for them. For others, we have been considering a pool stock amongst other things, but I think the slip on safety overshoes would be much more acceptable. I don't know anyone else who uses them in real life so let me know how you get on and I'll let you know how I get on! Have you thought of painting a 'tour route' for your visitors where they can be exempted from the wearing of certain PPE, e.g. safety shoes? The argument being that they are segregated and they are under direct supervision - the people escorting the visitors are responsible for the safety of the visitors. If they want to cross the line, then they would have to don safety shoes. Regards, Karen Todd
