Posted By Robert S Woods I thought the use of trichloroethylene had been restricted (other than EH 40 limits)or banned. Can anyone advise.

Posted By Paul Leadbetter Robert You may be confusing trichloroethylene (trike) with trichloroethane (Genklene) which has been banned by the Montreal Protocol for environmental reasons. Paul

The Solvent Directive http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/ "If you are using substances or preparations that, because of their VOC content are classified as carcinogens, mutagens, or toxic to reproduction under Directive 67/548/EEC, you must phase out their use within the shortest possible time. These substances are assigned or need to carry the risk phrases R45 (may cause cancer), R46 (may cause heritable genetic damage), R49 (may cause cancer by inhalation), R60 (may impair fertility) or R61 (may cause harm to the unborn child). "
