Posted By George Clough My Company is shortly going to put into use Man-Up VNA Trucks in our new warehouse facility. Has anyone any experience of Rope Evacuation systems as fitted to these trucks? I've read a HSE Operational Circular (OC 282/31) that suggests using and training operators on this type of escape system is high risk. Are there any suitable alternative means of escape that are lower risk options? Any help from experienced operators or users would be appreciated.

Posted By M Price Hi George I have responsibility for these types of trucks and the rope down facility is a nightmare {I’m sure it’s the manufactures being seen as doing their bit}. A far safer option is to have a safety cage attachment to use with another truck along with a written safe system of work or where possible use the hydraulic release valve to lower the cab.
